Organized Grocery Shopping

As a professional organizer I am always in search of fast easy ways to do everyday tasks. Here are a few tips for buying groceries quickly without spending too much time or money in the store.

#1 Bring a shopping list and categorize according to the isles of the store.

#2 Have a snack before you shop to avoid filling the cart with food you don't need.

#3 Categorize your pantry items and other groceries in the check out line for bagging, it will make unpacking so much easier.

Have a great day!

Living Things

During a A trip to the Nature Museum in Chicago we saw an exhibit showing some of the possible critters lurking in our homes.
Some of the most common are moth larvae that like to feed on
clothing, carpet or upholstery. If you start to notice little holes in you sweaters that may be a sign they have moved in. The best way to keep them out of your clothing and other fibers is to pack them away with cedar chips or lavender.
Another culprit was the mice in the basement. Just a reminder about dusting off those holiday decorations before you store them in the basement. Make sure you do not have any food or crumbs on them because the mice will move into their new Christmas tee box apartment where you have provided them food and shelter.

ECOBAGS® Reusable Cotton Mesh Produce Bags

ECOBAGS® Reusable Cotton Mesh Produce Bags

I went to the local farmers market in the park this morning and came back with lots of great veggies and flowers. I felt good about bringing my own canvas bag, but realized on my return home that my canvas shopping bag was full of individually packed fruits and veggies in small plastic bags. I saw a television show recently that talked about the plastic bags and how they are difficult to recycle. They actually get tangled up in the machinery. So it is best to avoid using them even though they are convenient and useful. I like my groceries separated in some manner. I don't want my hot peppers rubbing up against my fresh peaches so I went online to see if there was a solution. And guess what? There is! They are reusable cotton mesh bags called ECOBAGS! Totally cool and totally ECO. Plastic bags no MORE!

Love Your Job?

I was getting paid recently for a project and my client knew how much fun I was having. As she handed me a check she looked up at me and said "I think you are having to much fun, I think you should be paying us"

We had a good laugh-

Being Blogged

I just did a home organizing project for a friendly blogger. It was great way to receive feedback and the pictures are fantastic.
Pictures were taken the day before I arrived which captured the room at the beginning. We jumped right into action doing typical organizing tasks, sorting and categorizing. And then it was on to the purging. As the pictures continued it was great to see how much the room had changed in less than 1 hour, 2 hours and the end of the day.

Have a great day!

Top 10 ways to declutter your digital life

Here is a great article I found on Lifehack about organizing your e-clutter
I especially liked tip #1 cleaning out your inbox. This is such an important task and should be done as often as possible. Every new email pushes the older emails out of sight and they can be forgotten. Cleaning out your inbox on a weekly basis is a good way to review emails you havent acted on. Reply, forward, add to your do-to list or delete those inbox items a.s.a.p. and your inbox will be so much easier to manage.

Have a great day!

The To-Do list

In the article “How to actually get things done” I found some great tips on how getting excited about doing something may help you complete tasks. Also, trying to incorporate something fun in your list of to-do’s is a great motivator.
Try adding something fun to your to-list and let me know if it helps!
I know I am looking forward to badminton in the park tonight after dinner ! I just have to get through at least 3 items on my to-do list.
Have a great day!
