Organizing the Halloween Candy

Halloween is the biggest day for eating candy but can be overwhelming clutter November 1. How much leftover candy do you think you will have? If you dont want to find that same bag of candy months later old and stale do your self a favor. Sort through the candy as soon as possible and freeze items like the M&M's and snickers. They will make great toppings for future ice cream Sundaes. Some candies can also be used for baking. Check out CDkitchen.com for a list of recipes.

Declutter Your Bookshelves And Make Money!

Still storing all those books you already read and dont have an inch of room for new books? Well stop dusting those oldies, get them off the shelf and make some money! I just heard about a great website called Cash4books.
Cash4books is online book selling company that pays you for your used books. Just enter the books ISBN number and find out how much they will pay you for your books. Put them in a mailing box, attach the prepaid shipping label and mail. This is an easy way to purge those old books and get organized.

Organized Pantry Staples

Knowing what staple ingredients you keep in your kitchen is a great way to stay organized. It especially helps when you need to make a meal in a flash. Here's a quick chicken pot pie recipe that I just had to share because its so incredibly easy and its from items I keep stocked in the pantry or freezer.
1 1/2 cups cooked chicken cut up into small pieces
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 4 oz can of mushrooms
1 bag of frozen mixed vegetables
1/2 cup milk
dash of salt, pepper, Italian seasonings, Rosemary
refrigerator biscuits

I mix all the ingredients together in a casserole dish and bake for 25 minutes on 425. Then add the biscuits on top and bake according to directions.

Its fast, easy, good and it takes so little time to make. Perfect for those days when you have negative time!

Sorting Those Socks...Again!

Yesterday I posted about sorting socks quicker for the laundry. Its helpful to also be able to find those socks in your drawer. I recommend using a shoe box or compartment organizer for your sock drawer. Shoe boxes are great to sort by color and the compartment organizer separates socks by type.

Sorting the socks

Sorting socks from the clean laundry is a time consuming activity. Cut down on your laundry sorting time and get organized quicker by purchasing identical socks! If you wear sweat socks or trouser socks, get the same color and brand whenever possible and buy in bulk. This way if you are washing ten pairs of socks they are all the same color and size and easier to sort. It is also easier on the eyes and much faster way to get things done!

The Unorganized Dishwasher

A quick tip for NOT being so organized in the kitchen. I recently posted about the nesting bowls from Joesph Joesph. Nesting is a great solution for saving space but never for silverware in your dishwasher! Some dishwashers have silverware baskets that allow silverware to be placed together by dropping them in the basket. The problem with this is silverware such as spoons can stick or nest together and cannot get clean. A better way to load the dishwasher is to alternate spoons so they cannot nest together.
Good Luck with getting the silverware clean!
